BerryVine Companion™
BerryVine Companion™ is the first generic geographical BlackBerry solution for the European market. With either a English or Dutch interface, this lightweight but powerful application finally enables European BlackBerry users to:

  • View color maps of their current location, with full zoom and pan functionality
  • Look up nearby points of interest (POI's), including tourist attractions and restaurants
  • Calculate traveling routes with detailed step-by-step directions on how to get there and the possibility to view color maps of each step
  • Use an optional NMEA compatible Bluetooth® GPS antenna for enhanced functionality, including navigational guidance by use of their GPS position

BerryVine Companion™'s navigational functionality works according to a lightweight navigational method called ‘Waypoint Based Navigation'. This means that when calculating a route and receiving information from the server, the device only receives important waypoints and their GPS coordinates. These waypoints are used by the software to guide the user towards his/her destination.

BerryVine Companion™ uses geographical information from BerryVine.com's partner Locatienet, providers of high-quality geographical services. Using Locatienet's data, BerryVine Companion™ currently supports the following regions:

  • The BeNeLux
  • The United Kingdom
  • Most of western Europe

BerryVine Companion™ does not have any geographical data stored on the BlackBerry and is a lightweight solution tailor made for the current generation of BlackBerry devices. All information comes from BerryVine.com’s backend servers which contain all necessary information and perform the most intensive calculations. When requesting a map, route or looking up a point of interest, BerryVine Companion™ directs this request directly to the backend servers which will then make any necessary computations and return the requested information. This means that an active GPRS or other data connection is required when making requests. This connection is not required once you already have a route or map and do not need to make any additional requests.

   

When buying a BerryVine Companion user license, you will get one year of usage time with your purchase. Valid user licenses can be purchased through your distributor or from this website. Additional usage time can also be bought through this site. Please note that you will need to have bought the application before you can use any license key that provides additional usage time!

Requirements
To use BerryVine Companion ™ please check that you have the following:

  • BlackBerry OS 4.0 or higher
  • BlackBerry Desktop software, when you are not performing an over the air (OTA) installation
  • One of the above mentioned BlackBerry models
  • Full MDS connectivity or direct TCP connectivity
  • For GPS functionality a NMEA compatible Bluetooth® GPS antenna is required together with a Bluetooth enabled BlackBerry (i.e. 7100, 7290, etc)
